Hi folks, I was going to finish my article on Maine Fiddle Camp this month, but I’m about to head out to the August Camps in less than a day so figured I could do a writeup that included August NEXT month. So this time, I figured I introduce you to an amazing band of young guys from Montreal, Le Winston Band. They are a five piece Zydeco band, accordion, scrub board, guitar, bass and drums. They’ve spent a lot of time in Louisiana, absorbing the culture and learning and while they can stay very true to the tradition, the seem very genuine and not “appropriating” anything! They play original songs too and the music seems genuine and fresh! I had a chance to meet up with them and hear them last month at “Camp Zydecow” in Cherryfield Maine. I wrote about Camp Zydecow here a couple years ago – here’s the LINK.
