FIDDLE LESSON: HOG-EYED MAN
Fiddle Lesson: Hog-Eyed Man
Over here at the Old-Time Tiki Parlour we’re gearing up for the big Dan Gellert DVD and CD release! Since the last column, we’ve had many visitors here! We recently had a wonderful 2-day, 10-hour singing workshop with old-time masters Joe Newberry and Val Mindel. Eric, Suzy and Allegra Thomspon came by for more filming and jamming! Erynn Marshall & Carl Jones even passed through for an evening of hanging out and playing tunes during their big US road trip/tour! West
Virginia’s Ben Townsend stopped in for some filming and picking too! It’s been a great honor to have so many great old-time musicians visit the Tiki Parlour here in Los Angeles. A lot of filming/documenting is under way. In late January, West Virginia’s Jesse Milnes & Emily Miller will be performing a house concert and teaching a singing workshop. Many performers are scheduled for 2015 including Mike Compton, Joe Newberry, Howard Rains & Tricia Spencer, and a return visit from Rafe & Clelia Stefanini!!
To start the New Year and celebrate The Old-Time Tiki Parlour’s first release, The Rafe & Clelia Stefanini DVD I decided to kick it off with an official FolkWorks fiddle lesson. This free lesson features the tune Hog-Eyed Man from the Stefanini DVD. Rafe and Clelia picked it up from Bruce Greene who channels the Hiram Stamper version. Enjoy!!
