 Amelia Hogan is an impeccably authentic singer of Celtic music, and her warm enchanting storytelling comes through in honeyed tones on Irish, Scottish, British, and American-styled vocals. She sings in the “old style,” while mostly in English also a little in Gaelic, (As Gaeilge) with a highly lyrical unaccompanied narrative storytelling approach as well as with accompaniment, plays shruti box and a small 22-string Welsh lap harp, and has toured internationally to global acclaim. Workshop/Class Description:

Title: 
Irish Sean Nós Singing
Description: This workshop introduces an overview of what Sean Nos Singing IS, some typical markers and regional differences, the feel and flavor. 
We’ll walk attendees through some of the stylistic conventions that mark a song as “Sean Nos” and the traditions associated with sharing the style. 
Workshop attendees will begin learning a traditional Irish song in Irish Gaelic (As Gaeilge) taught through a call and response, and informational approach.
Materials will be provided for in-person and available for download. 
This is open to beginners but is a more advanced program.

Title: Intro to Singing in Irish
Description: This workshop introduces Ssinging in Irish, some typical markers and functional differences between styles of Irish songs including: 
Ballads, Planxty’s Aisling’s, Pub Songs, political and Work Songs, mouth music (puirt á beul),
We’ll walk attendees through some of the stylistic conventions of those purpose specific songs, and the traditions associated with each. We’ll also go over some pronunciation conventions for the words written in the roman alphabet, but in Irish, broken down for English Speakers. how to begin working with vocables, and introduce attendees to some unfamiliar pronunciations for English Speakers.
Workshop attendees will learn a traditional Irish song in Irish Gaelic (As Gaeilge) taught through a call and response, and informational approach.
Materials will be provided for in-person and available for download. 
This is open to beginners.
