Please join us in celebrating the splendid diversity of folk/roots/trad music in Southern California
Tracy Newman is Master of Ceremonies and one of our favorite singer songwriters. She is an alum and founding member of the legendary improv theater group The Groundlings. Take a listen/look at her I Just See You video.
“Banjo Gal” Donna Lynn Caskey takes a pure, timeless sound to heartfelt, comforting and sometimes edgy new places. Her original songs honor the venerated five-string banjo while stretching its boundaries. Her debut album, Nameless Heart, consists of twelve, timeless-sounding original songs featuring clawhammer banjo.
Rowan Storm shares traditional songs, rhythms and frame drums of the Middle East and Mediterranean, as well as goblet drums: Turkish and Arabic dumbek (darbukka) and Persian tombak. Rowan is in demand worldwide for her performances, innovative teaching method and frame drum designs for Remo and Cooperman.
Tom Sauber & Patrick Sauber are father and son multi-instrumentalists and singers with staggering command and a depth of feeling over a broad range of traditional styles from Oldtime and Bluegrass to Cajun and Creole.
Joe Fontenot and his band are the real deal. Steeped in the Cajun creole culture Joe is keeping the tradition alive in Southern California with backroom jams as well as dances and festivals.
