Get ready for an electrifying toe-tapping, hand-clapping evening as the Scottish Fiddlers of Los Angeles return to the Hermosa Beach Community Theatre on Saturday, April 13, for the 40th edition of their Annual Concert, this year with featured guests, the acclaimed Scottish fiddle and cello duo Alasdair Fraser and Natalie Haas.
Children 12 and under are free, general seating $20, preferred seating $30. Tickets available on-line at https://ScottishFiddlers2024.eventbrite.com
Alasdair Fraser, long regarded as one of the greatest Scottish fiddlers playing today, has earned the title of “the Michael Jordan of Scottish fiddling.” His collaboration with cellist Natalie Haas has played a pivotal role in reconstructing and revitalizing the Scottish tradition of playing dance music on violin and cello, infusing their interpretation of Scottish melodies with driving rhythms and improvisation. Jan Tappan, director of the Scottish Fiddlers of Los Angeles for nearly 35 years, is an internationally known Scottish fiddler, educator, competition judge, and performer.
The evening promises an exhilarating performance showcasing a vibrant repertoire of marches, strathspeys, reels, and jigs in the spirited Scottish tradition with a dynamic mix of fiddles, cellos, basses, drums, piano, harps, accordions, whistles, bagpipes, and Gaelic song. So, gather your friends and family and get ready for a night of music, laughter, and good times.
This concert is co-sponsored by the Scottish Fiddlers of Los Angeles, the nation’s oldest, continuously running Scottish fiddle orchestra, and the Pasadena Folk Music Society, which has been bringing quality folk music to Caltech and the larger Pasadena area and supporting local and emerging artists for over 40 years
