Joselyn & Don and The Odd Birds
September 20 @ 7:30 PM - 10:00 PM PDT

Two Americana duos bursting with talent — Joselyn & Don and The Odd Birds — will perform in Pasadena on Saturday evening, Sept. 20. Both Joselyn & Don and The Odd Birds are L.A.-based couples who sing passionately about love, community and nature with forthrightness that makes audiences think and smile.
Joselyn & Don
Montana natives Joselyn Wilkinson and Don Barrozo had each been creating music for years with strong, distinctive voices before they put together their first album as a duo, 2020’s “Soar.” That collection leads off with Storm, which was inspired by an earlier California inferno but is more resonant this year than ever. Lyrics include “We’ll get through this darkest night. We will weather any storm. What will we do with tomorrow’s light? How do we build a better home?” A reviewer for Americana UK wrote, “This is grown-up, timeless folk music, deeply rooted in blues and the natural world. It explores how we are locked into past and future, earth, sky, and all the creatures on this beautiful planet that we are slowly wrecking.” This summer they released Girl from the Mountain as an advance single from an upcoming album.
The Odd Birds
The Odd Birds are Ron Grigsby on guitar, vocals, harmonica and keyboards and Jennifer Moraca on vocals and guitar. Together they create music about connections, both lost and found, with an alluring and intimate sound. A review by Rocking Magpie says, “wowza,” and “The couple sound like they’re singing on Townes Van Zandt’s front porch on the tear-inducing and heart-breaking Drowning Rain.” On Sept. 20, they’ll perform some songs from their first two albums, 2020’s “Better Days” and 2021’s “Tremolo Heart,” as well as songs from one that’s in the works for next spring.
