SUMMARY:Trevor Hall presented by Kali Mandir
DESCRIPTION:Kali Mandir presents TREVOR HALL:\na solo benefit concert \nAn evening of music and magic supporting Kali Mandir’s Expansion Program to provide wider services to the community. Kali Mandir is dedicated to instilling dharmic values through traditional kirtan\, worship and youth-oriented community projects. \nKali Mandir is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization: www.kalimandir.org \nTrevor Hall and The Great In-Between marks the start of a new era for musician Trevor Hall. Releasing September 15th\, 2023 on Hall’s own 3 Rivers Label\, the highly-anticipated record delivers a future-folk masterpiece anchored in Hall’s beloved style blending roots and folk with subtle electronic textures\, while simultaneously bringing a refreshing new sound to the forefront. Created solely within the confines of a barn-turned-studio in his own backyard\, this record marks the first of Hall’s career where he helmed every aspect of the production process. Penned without external influence and from a purely creative and explorative space\, Trevor Hall and the Great In-Between unveils raw and unfiltered facets of Hall that remain undiscovered. \nHailing from a small island in South Carolina\, Hall was raised in a musical family and began formally studying classical guitar in high school at Idyllwild Arts Academy. Quickly thrust into the world of major labels\, Hall signed a record deal at the young age of sixteen. After realizing the restrictive nature of such deals\, he decided to pave his own way and reclaim his artistic freedom. Starting in 2017\, he began releasing music independently. Since then\, Hall has sold hundreds of thousands of albums and amassed billions of streams\, leaving an indelible mark on the lives of countless listeners. His memorable live performances have graced venues around the world\, including multiple sold-out headline shows at the historic Red Rocks Amphitheater. Hall currently resides in Colorado with his wife\, author & photographer Emory Hall\, as well as his son.

SUMMARY:Ranky Tanky
DESCRIPTION:“Lively\, soulful honey to the ears” – NPR \n“It’ll heal you: island music that peps up the body and enriches the soul.” – No Depression \nIn 2020\, right before the pandemic\, Ranky Tanky went from playing our stage in an epic performance\, to walking into their first GRAMMY® win the very next day for Best Regional Roots Music Album. They won again in the same category in 2023. Their epic ballad “Beat Em Down” is an anthem for our times. \nFEATURED ARTISTS: \nQuentin E. Baxter\, drums\nKevin Hamilton\, bass\nQuiana Parler\, vocals\nClay Ross\, guitar\, vocals\nCharlton Singleton\, trumpet\, vocals \nRanky Tanky have achieved many firsts for South Carolina’s West African-rooted Gullah community since their formation\, earning yet another milestone at the 2019 GRAMMY® Awards by taking home the Best Regional Roots Album prize for their sophomore release\, Good Time. The album\, which also hit No. 1 on Billboard’s Contemporary Jazz Chart\, combines songs carried down through generations in the Sea Islands of the Southeastern United States with the band’s own original compositions in the Gullah tradition. In Ranky Tanky’s hands\, this style of music has been described as “soulful honey to the ears” (NPR) while being covered by the New York Times\, NPR’s Fresh Air and The TODAY Show\, who had the band on for a performance. \nRanky Tanky (a Gullah phrase for “get funky”) are five lifelong friends from Charleston\, South Carolina who have established themselves as passionate global ambassadors for their local culture and community\, helping to faithfully preserve the traditions originated by African Americans in the coastal South during slavery that are kept alive through the present day. The band have been featured on NPR’s Fresh Air\, The Today Show\, PBS Newshour and The Late Show with Stephen Colbert #playathome. Ranky Tanky were honored to be featured artists in President Biden’s inauguration event\, We The People. They were the subjects of a 10-page profile in Oxford American’s South Carolina Music Issue and were named 2020 Artist of The Year by the Charleston City Paper.
