Another look at an old favorite Fiddle Camp tune!
The Road to Boston is one of the best known “easy” tunes in the Maine Fiddle Camp repertoire. On the last day of every camp session, the tune is played as the whole camp marches to the dining hall to salute the kitchen staff. the summer before last, Andrea Cooper and I decided to play the “Camp song” in an unusual duet – Sousaphone and Pennywhistle, the biggest horn and the littlest, at least that we could find in camp at the time! This was first August week 2023. In the video at the end here, the audio is a little fuzzy but it was a rainy day and as folks were scurrying to keep their fiddles and other wooden instruments out of the rain, it was fun realizing we didn’t really care since we were both playing instruments that were “made to get wet”!
